Amazing New Exhibit of Coffee Grinders
Cayman Motor Museum is pleased to announce our fantastic new exhibit of coffee grinders - featuring the worlds best mills from PEUGEOT
The PEUGEOT story starts in the 19th century with the manufacture of pepper mills and coffee grinders. More than 160 years later, the PEUGEOT mills and grinders are still the reference in the most famous chef’s kitchens.
The first mills created by PEUGEOT were coffee grinders. Their design – innovative and ahead of their time – drew roasted whole coffee beans from a hopper towards the grinding teeth. En route, they were cracked before grinding; releasing more of the coffee’s essential oils, ensuring more of the fresh ground flavor would be released in the brewing process. A simple thumbwheel allowed the grind to be adjusted, from very fine to very coarse, according to the needs of the brewer and the type of coffee.
This innovative burr-type design was not only ahead of its time, but it also served as the model for PEUGEOT’s famous pepper grinding mechanism. This design is so effective that other manufacturers have been trying to imitate it for years.
