The Pinnafarina-designed Mondial 8 premiered at the Geneva Auto Show in 1980 to replace the 308. It has a quad-cammed, transversely mounted V-8 behind the seats. This was the first Ferrari with power assisted rack and pinion steering. Air conditioning for passeger and driver was standard. The transmission was F-1 inspired and featured a transverse mounted gearbox that lessened the drive line by five inches.
