1963 Ferrari 250 GTE
In the beginning, Enzo Ferrari built racing cars and then he sold racing cars. Next he sold racing cars that could be used on the road and then he sold road cars that could go racing. Finally he sold the road cars. It was Mr. Ferraris' priority throughout his life; he sold cars to fund his racing. With the 250 GT family, he refined this to a fine art. He sold racing cars, race-cum-road cars and pure road cars, he sold Berlinettas and Spyders, Coupes' and Cabriolets' with all the style and performance one could ask for. By the late 1950's any man or woman who had bought a no-compromise Ferrari might well have a family to complicate his or her love of cars, hence the idea of a 2+2. Pinin Farina and Ferrari penned the 250 GTE 2+2 together. The new car appeared in production form for the first time in October 1960, at Ferraris' favorite launch venue, the Paris show. It is powered by a 240 HP, three carburetor version of the 3 litre V12 with spark plugs on the outside of the heads.
